Offbeat Goa

Normally tourists visit the places that are usual and are known to all. These places are usually crowded and hence do not get the true essence of Goa , which is in peace. These offbeat places are not usually backed by the tourists as they are known only to the local people; We at truly Goa ,are bringing them to your notice.

1) Netravali - Bubbling lake
This water body is located in the remote part of north Goa.  It  witnesses an unusual phenomenon of bubbles arising continuously from the bottom of the water bed on clapping near the pond.
The locals have associated this with the local diety as the waterbody is also close to the temple. Scientists believe that this is because of the release of carbondioxide and sulphur dioxide gas.

 

2) Pequeno (Bat) Island
Pequeno Island is also known as Bat island.
located along the rocky beach stretch , is a place of adventure . This place is bedded with amazing coral reefs. Snorkelling is prominent on this lsland. A lot of indegenious birds can be seen migrating on this island.
Away from the hustle of the city , this place has its own tranquil.






3) Butterfly conservatory (Ponda)
this butterfly santuary is the brainchild of the Jyoti and Yashodhan Heblekar, who had a craze for the butterflies and hence converted acres of barren land into butterfly conservatory. This place is located in Priol, a remote place in Goa . The surprising thing is that this place was barren few years back , but is now flourishing with flora and fauna.


 

 4) Cumbharjua canal ( backwaters of Goa)
If you take a ferry via cumbharjuva cannal, you will have an experience of a lifetime, lined by thick mangrove forests, this place is a major siteseeing for crocodiles, one cannot help to notice a float of crocodiles basking in the sun. 
This makes the trip an out of the world experience.

5) Grande island (Dolphine spotting and scuba diving)

Grande island is close to the monkey beach. This place is popular for snorkeling, scuba diving and  dolphin spotting  . 
 Its not only about the destination but the beach too. During this journey you will be able to witness , places like Aguada fort , merchants bunglow, central jail  and ruins of other portuguese architecture



 5) Kayaking ( Chapora river)
 Whats better than kayaking , you want to witness the deeper parts of the peaceful Goa . Make sure you have a Dslr and your Go-Pros handy to take awesome pictures of the landscapes and birds.








6) White water rafting


If you are thinking about planning your next vacation  in Rishikesh for whitewater rafting . Hello !! damn Goa has this too ;)
 Mhadei river has a perfect environment for water sports such as the white water rafting. this place is in valpoi-Goa This activity commences in July and goes on until October.





7) Buddhist caves
Many don't know that Goa has a rich Buddhist history and Rivona Cave is a living example of that. This Buddhist cave, carved in laterite rock is said to be the seat of a Buddhist Monk. The cave even has a stone sculpture of Buddha in 'Bhumisparsha' posture, belonging to the Mahayana Sect. On the insides of the cave Kadamba lion icons decorate the stone walls.
