Jatra

 

Come February and you will see a lot of famous temples in Goa getting ready for Jatra of the local deities. Temples are decorated beautifully for these events.

Jatra' in Marathi means a 'fair'. Like most of the villages and towns in India, many seasonal and annual fairs are held all over Goa.

These traditions are result of the local deity and historical factors.

It is an event which is held for specific period to a specific place, and includes some rituals. But it is not obligatory that one should perform all rituals. One can go for variety of reasons like entertainment, fun etc.

It has a lot of Fun rides, Giant wheel, Cotton candy and Food Stalls.

Local casino's

During Jatra's apart from paying gratitude to God, you will find a lot of crowd gathered on Local casino stalls also called in local language as "Gadgade".

Piles of people generally bet their money in small amount on these stalls, you can find various varieties of games being displayed in which you can choose and play.

You will find famous games such as "Andar Bahar", "Lucky Seven", "Card Games" to "Roulette".

Most of these games are fun inducing and innovatively discovered.

Only Drawback is you end up losing if luck is not on your side.
